Autism Story Is Both Riveting and Informative
By Connie (Corcoran) Wilson
Dr. Sharon Mitchell once again blends fact with fiction to give us truths about one of the biggest health problems facing young people today: autism and how to best address it. As the former owner/operator of a Sylvan Learning Center who worked with many autistic students (as well as a classroom of 35 years) and the author of "Training the Teacher As A Champion" (PLS Bookstores, 1989), I can attest that Dr. Mitchell has taken her extensive experience in the field and blended it with an extremely readable story about a family attempting to cope with an autistic child.

From the opening chapter when Tomas' job is threatened by his need to leave work to help his imperiled wife we are caught up in the adventures of this family that is so much like us and yet so different. With a close friend and classmate whose now-adult autistic son has occupied her days and nights and posed all of the dilemmas portrayed in this book, I can say without reservation that Mitchell's book will help you to understand (and, possibly, cope with) autism.

Don't think it is going to be boring. It will hold your attention from the dramatic opening right through to the conclusion. Kudos to Dr. Mitchell, once again, for this innovative approach to sharing her knowledge of the subject matter.

I want more!
By Savannah
Please tell me there are going to more books like this one! I love love love when fiction meets nonfiction and I'm a sucker for a good family drama that touches on special needs. Ben, Mel and Kyle were my absolute favorite from the first book and to see them again in this one was so exciting! I fell in love with Tomas, Maria and Manny and I can't wait to read the next installment!
