About The Burglar With Very Smelly Feet.
Boss and Wife, the loving owners of Morgie and Peej decide to go away for the weekend to a nice hotel for a break. They ask Britney to come and look after Morgie and Peej. She is a nice girl who works with Wife but she keeps company with this strange character, Robbo, who unbeknown to her to is wanted by the Police for the burglary of dozens of homes.
When Britney arrives at the house with Robbo for dinner a few days before Boss and Wife's holiday, the dogs take an instant dislike to him and his stinky feet. They instinctively do not trust him and feel he is up to no good.
The night that Britney is supposed to dog-sit she gets diverted and the dogs end up home alone.
The get hungry and so Morgie figures out a unique way of opening cans of their favourite lamb and vegetable stew dog food (a very useful technique if you are a dog).
That same night Robbo, tries to break into the house with intentions of stealing some valuables.
Morgie and Peej, while defending the house, have to find a way of letting Boss know that they are alone and that things are not as they should be. Of course all works out well in the end and Morgie and Peej are able to help the Police identify Robbo as the wanted burglar.

A Lighthearted Story Perfect for New Readers

While I'm sure I'm not a target demographic for this type of story, I have to say that this story is very well written with very funny and interesting characters. The illustrations are all kinds of adorable as well. You really can't beat this one!

I work with elementary school aged children, and I know that they would love this! I wish it would publish on paper, so I could show them the cute pictures of these really cool hounds. They would be ESTACTIC! Great book for kiddos!

He recounts the history of the development of ideas about strategy and foreign policy during a critical period in American history: the era of the nuclear standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union.

The book looks at how the country's foremost thinkers advanced their ideas during this time of United States expansionism, a period that culminated in the Vietnam War and d�tente with the Soviets. Beginning with George Kennan after World War II, and concluding with Henry Kissinger and the Vietnam War, Kuklick examines the role of both institutional policymakers such as those at The Rand Corporation and Harvard's Kennedy School, and individual thinkers including Paul Nitze, McGeorge Bundy, and Walt Rostow.

Kuklick contends that the figures having the most influence on American strategy--Kissinger, for example--clearly understood the way politics and the exercise of power affects policymaking. Other brilliant thinkers, on the other hand, often played a minor role, providing, at best, a rationale for policies adopted for political reasons. Kuklick, a University of Pennsylvania American history professor, studies three groups of thinkers (the RAND Corporation; Harvard political scientist Richard Neustadt and Ernest May's "May Group"; and academics who became presidential advisors, including George Kennan, McGeorge Bundy and Henry Kissinger) to understand intellectuals' "thinking about war" and how their ivory-tower-nurtured philosophies meshed with "political reality." Kuklick's deconstruction of the doctrines of massive retaliation, flexible response and gradual escalation will ring familiar to students of the cold war, and he underlines rather than upends the traditional consensus on "philosophers in government." (Kennan is the "first intellectual middleman of the postwar national security studies," and Kissinger is "supremely gifted in translating ideas into politics.") But it is RAND, an Air Force-created think tank, and the reactions to its blend of "mathematical-economic" reasoning, organizational theorizing and "rational choice" decision making that dominate the volume. When intellectuals wage war

Prof. Kuklick has written before about both philosophy and politics in America, and in his latest book, "Blind Oracles", he brings the two together in the most extreme of all political acts, the waging of war. Beginning with the theoretical underpinnings of the ideas about war in the aftermath of WWII, "Blind Oracles" follows the birth and increasing influence of the RAND corporation from the beginnings of the Cold War, through the Cuban Missile Crisis, and up to the Vietnam War, when a new breed of intellectual-adviser, many from Harvard's Kennedy School, came into prominence, attempting to transform their philosophies into policy. Finally, Kuklick ends with the realpolitiking of Kissinger who was "supremely gifted in translating ideas into politics," even if some of those ideas may be considered abuses of American power.

Besides portraying the dangers of attempting policy in the vacuum of the ivory tower or the blinders of rigid ideology, "Blind Oracles" also shows how foreign policy thinking has not changed in its essentials since Clausewitz, whose famous dictum, "War is the continuation of policy (politics) by other means," underlines the motives and decisions of men who tried to conceptualize state-sponsored violence in ways to justify its bloody costs.

A fascinating study of self-delusion

This fascinating book looks at the influence in government of intellectuals such as George Kennan, Paul Nitze, Walt Rostow, Robert McNamara and Henry Kissinger. It also examines their shared myths, for example that US interventionism is necessary, that the USA is uniquely virtuous, and that war only comes from malevolent surprises by others.

Kuklick shows that their basic function was to provide politicians with justifications for doing what they were going to do anyway, to give them cover and act as defense counsel. He judges, "The accepted wisdom of the era fell short of what we might want." Their assessments of Soviet strengths and motives were `simplistic'. "Much of what strategists `knew' was wrongheaded or muddled, if not mistaken."

He notes that these civilian strategists showed an acute distrust of democracy and were committed to `a select management that would lead by exaggeration'. Proximity to power brought arrogance and ignorance.

After the US war against Vietnam, McNamara organised a conference at which he tried to make the Vietnamese participants accept that the war had been due to `mutual misunderstanding'. But Nguyen Thach, a former foreign minister, responded, "I would say, with all due respect to Mr. McNamara, that the U.S. mindset, as he says was incorrect, but that the Vietnamese mindset - our assessment of the U.S. - was essentially correct."

General Nguyen Giap, Vietnam's chief military strategist, said, "I don't believe we misunderstood you ... Excuse me, but we correctly understood you ... you are wrong to call the war a `tragedy' - to say that it came from missed opportunities. Maybe it was a tragedy for you, because yours was a war of aggression, in the neo-colonialist `style', or fashion, of the day for the Americans."

Kuklick concludes, "The men of knowledge did well by their societies, yet their actual knowledge was minimal while their sense of self-regard and scholarly hand-waving was maximal. They did their best work in constructing ways of thinking that absolved leadership of liability, deserved or not. Undoubtedly there was a symbiosis between the defense specialists and the nonintellectual elite that wanted their services in places of power, but the culture paid a pretty penny for the expertise, especially when so many intellectuals disdained a democratic republic."

Only half right

This book examines the role of men who transitioned from academia to politics and had great influence on America's wars and foreing policy. It includes such luminaries as Mcgeorge Bundy, George Kennan and Kissinger. But it also fails to give enough attention to others such as Zvignew Bryzinski and Madeline Albright. Is this because the book is mostly a critique on what it sees as 'republican' intellectuals who influenced 'right wing' administrations. Every administration however relies on academics, partially because foreign policy pashas tend to transition back and forth from politics to business to academics(see for instance Macnamara or Lawrence Summers, Wolfowitz, Elliot Abrams, Condi Rice).

This is how politics works for Republicans and Democcrats and they are not all 'blind oracles' and they are not all ignorant of the reality on the ground. Senior Administration members from other sectors, such as Dick Cheney, have proved equally problematic and un-realistic. In the final analysis George Kennan's prognosis about containment proved correct and Kissinger will be rememmbered for being one of the most influential secretaries of state in the 20th century.

He holds a double bachelor’s degree in economics and history, a MBA, and a PhD with a concentration in business management. Dr. Brannock developed business case analysis expertise as a principal and partner in a prestigious management consulting firm based in the Northern Virginia–Washington D.C. area. He has over thirty years’ experience with business management situations, including business case analysis, strategic planning, and sociotechnical systems analysis. Adding the cooperative movement to Black history results in a retelling of the African American experience, with an increased understanding of African American collective economic agency and grassroots economic organizing.

To tell the story, Gordon Nembhard uses a variety of newspapers, period magazines, and journals; co-ops’ articles of incorporation, minutes from annual meetings, newsletters, budgets, and income statements; and scholarly books, memoirs, and biographies. These sources reveal the achievements and challenges of Black co-ops, collective economic action, and social entrepreneurship. best!!!!!!!!

I had heard about her from everyone. I bought the book. Tried it when my child was 4 and 1/2 weeks old...two nights of crying a bit, then SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!! She is 7 months now and is doing great eating and sleeping. It helps to understand shots as well. My good friend used her with all 5 of her different children and it help them all sleep. She did it right away (compared to me starting a few weeks after birth).
Easy to read, I go back often.
We buy it for all our friends; first time parents, third time parents, etc. :)

About the Author
Peggy Claude-Pierre opened her outpatient practice specializing in eating disorders in 1988; the Montreaux Clinic began its residential inpatient program in 1993. Millions have been introduced to Claude-Pierre's gentle yet positive approach to the treatment of anorexia and bulimia, thanks to her appearances on 20/20 (the first show on her work won a Peabody Award for excellance) and Oprah. She consults with health professionals and government representatives in North and South America, Western and Eastern Europe, as well as Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. She has been nominated for the Kiwanis World Service Medal and the Institute of Noetic Sciences Altruism Award. She is currently working with the Montreaux staff to create a teaching clinic to offer professional training to others who wish to use the Montyreaux approach. She lives and works in Victoria, Canada.

Great book...a must read for those suffering or have someone close suffering

I am not sure what book the person below read, but this person is not a quack, not a fraud and is not putting anyone with an ED on a pedestal.
She treats what lies underneath. When you treat the person, the ED shrinks. Of that, there is no doubt.
This book gives a very different view than most others you will find on here, but slowly many hospitals and clinics are starting to use her methods.
Why, you might ask.
Because it works.

This book misrepresents eating disorders and makes eating disorder sufferers almost seem psychotic. The author is very inexperienced with eating disorders and only has her word to back up her statements. She puts down eating disorder facts that have proven to be true. The one good thing about the book is how she encourages treating victims of eating disorders with love and compassion. I think her kindness is what drew her clients. She states that her way is the only way to help anorexics which ignores the fact that people are individuals. And she ignores the fact that other therapists besides her have had a high success rate. Some of her theories almost seem demonic or mystical. Almost like those with eating disorders are saints or psychics of some sort.

About the Author
Apostle Leslie D. Richardson is the founding pastor of My Father’s House International Christian Discipleship Center. He and his wife, Pastor Lily R. Richardson, are the vision-bearers of this awesome ministry located in Denver, Colorado. Pastor Richardson is the third child of four children born to Deacon O.J. and Pastor Geraldine Richardson. His parents (and late grandmother) are in the ministry, making Pastor Richardson a third-generation preacher of the Gospel. Pastor Richardson is a native of Lansing, Michigan, where he received his formal education. He studied Architectural Drafting at the Lansing Community Design Center, received his biblical training under Bishop Earl O. Holiman (Pastor of Bethsaida Temple Christian Center in Denver, Colorado), and additional training at the Marilyn Hickey Bible College. Pastor Richardson’s first pastoral assignment was as acting pastor at the Original Church of God, located at 72nd Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. After commuting between Denver and Chicago for ministry for over 2� years, the Lord led to him to launch the ministry of My Father’s House in Denver. After much prayer and fasting, and counseling from his pastor and mentor, Bishop Holiman, Pastor Richardson obeyed the mandate. His two sons, Leslie II and Marcus, his sister Diane, and a few others, were the initial members of My Father’s House. With the call of God on his life, and nothing but the Word of God, the Lord led him to launch the ministry of My Father’s House in Denver, Colorado. Pastor Richardson began evangelizing the Denver community with his “Crying In The Wilderness” radio ministry—and the Lord added to the Church such as should be saved. Today he is still “Crying in the Wilderness” on radio, television, and on the Internet. The Lord has given Pastor Richardson the vision to disciple God’s people, a gift to unlock the mysteries contained in God’s Holy Word, and an anointed, apostolic, and prophetic ministry. The Richardsons are the thankful parents of four beautiful children: Leslie II, Marcus, Jasmine, and Joshua. And they have four grandchildren: Leslie III, Laila, Adriel, and Mya.
