Great first board book.

This is one book of a series including Family, Working, Playing, and Dressing. All feature a toddler as he (she?) adventures forth and discovers new things. In this episode the tyke befriends different animals including a dog, a cat, and a hen. Friends is my favorite in the series because the animals are drawn so comically. For example, you can see that the dog is just tolerating the child's attention (just like my golden retriever looks when the neighborhood toddlers come for a visit). These books introduced my sons to bedtime story reading seventeen years ago. The set makes a wonderful baby present - something children can enjoy from about 6 months to 2 and 1/2 years.

A simple book that is simply wonderful!

A cute baby and his furry friends teach names of animals. This book is so simple, young babies can enjoy it, and older toddlers can make up stories about the illustrations. It has been one of our baby's favorite's since he was 8 months old. He's 16 months now, and still comes back to it.

Robert P. Pangrazi is a professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Arizona State University. Professionally, he has served as an elementary teacher, a university teacher and researcher and as a university administrator. Pangrazi is an Honor Fellow of the AAHPERD and a Fellow in the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education and the North American Society. He was honored by NASPE with the Margie Hanson Distinguished Service.

Pangrazi has also authored Dynamic Physical Education for Secondary School Children, now in its 5th edition (Benjamin Cummings, 2006) with Paul W. Darst. He has written 43 other textbooks, served as editor of three professional journals, produced five professional 16mm films, a series of educational videotapes, and two fitness-related videos for national television and authored more than 85 research/journal articles. Robert Pangrazi has been the keynote speaker for 32 state and district conventions, delivered three international presentations and presented approximately 200 speeches at the local, state, and national level. Pangrazi’s research focuses on promoting physical activity for youth.

Enjoyable in parts

Kathy's writing can sparkle and shine and she is extremely clever and funny. However, I didn't enjoy the endlessly graphic sex and I think I am a little over the "I do everything and my husband does nothing" lament.
The story is basically about three friends - one (Jasmine) is married to an inhumanly humane doctor who rushes around the world helping people; one (the narrator Cassie) is married to a slob, gorgeous though he is; and one is married to a man who is happy to be the baby of the household. The book starts with Jas in jail for murdering her husband. The rest of the book is Cassie's recounting of how it happened that Jas got into that predicament.
It is a light read, and enjoyable in parts - but I think I need to Lette myself read some other things!

I expected a Bridget Jones type book, but this thing was god awful. The humour was predictable and cliche. It just wasn't funny. If you are looking for something with no intellectual implications and just to keep you occupied on the plane or bus, it may be for you.

Destined to Become a Project Management Classic

I should have read this book three years ago. Web Project Management presents a solid Web project management method for building commercial web sites.
The book reads as if Ashley Friedlein, the author made many of the same mistakes I made. The wisdom encapsulated between the covers of this well written, easy-to-understand volume will serve web site project managers for years to come.
The author breaks web site construction into 4 distinct phases: Pre-production, Production, Maintenance and Evaluation. Pre-production is broken into 3 stages: Project Clarification, Solution Definition, and Project Specification. Pre-production ranks as the most important stage; it represents the time when you work out what is to be achieved and plan how you will do it.
Production consists of the following stages: Content, Design and Construction, Testing, Launch and Handover. I found the author's attention to content complications particularly interesting. In my experience, content is the area where web site designers and builders are the weakest, yet plays one of the most critical roles in the users' return.
Maintenance plays a critical role in the updating and evolution of the site, so that it can retain and grow its user base.
The final phase, Evaluation, is something of great importance to site builders and clients. Clients are demanding their web sites provide a return on investment. Sites must perform a commercial as well as a branding and marketing function to justify continued investment. If a financial benefit can be established, it is much easier to receive continued funding for existing projects or to undertake new ones.
If you are involved-however tangentially-with web site development and support, you owe it to yourself to have a well-worn copy of this book gracing your bookshelves. Friedlein writes from experience - and that experience will save you time, money and quite a few headaches.

A starting point for online project management

This book was a pioneer in esatblishging the scope of web project management - especially bringing together the creative and engineering sides to the project. It is applicable to dynamic and interactive websites such as found in online media and corporate websites.

The project management techniques are crude and the appreciation of the software engineering issues are simplistic: but the approcah used is still applicable to the majority of contemporary websites.

This is a sound starting point for people starting to engage with managing the design, development and maintenance of complex websites. It should not be taken as the current state of the art.

REALLY short on specifics

Talks WAY too much in generalities and jargon, with almost no specifics. The website for the book says they can't give more specifics about, for example, project specification documents, because of confidentiality. That's a really lame excuse for not coming up with a sample, detailed project spec.
