Dr.Sheets has created a practical tool for operationalizing the pedagogy for effective instruction for culturally diverse students.The book shows the connection between Education That Is Multicultural and student achievment.
The book is an excellent resource for both pre-service and in-service teachers.

Useful MUST-HAVE for any teacher AND a great, easy read

This book exceeded my expectations. I'm a graduate student getting my Masters -- M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. I ordered this book because I HAD TO for a class (the class was Teaching for Cross Cultural Communication). BUT I soon realized that this is a must have for my own personal collection! Any teacher worth their weight and who genuinely cares about making sure they are teaching in an inclusive manner and that all students are a part of what is being taught, making sure all students -- from varying races, cultures, backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, sexual orientations, abilities, etc. -- can not only see but feel that they and their families/interests are a part of the everyday classroom curriculum should own this book. I've been teaching for 6 years and have focused, as most teachers do, on the academic/social/emotional well-being and growth of my students. This book showed me what has been missing from my teaching and it caused me to change the way I teach. Now I still do what I did before BUT I also add elements from this book to ensure I'm recognizing diversity and other cultures.
Another bonus -- this book READS LIKE A GOOD BOOK! Does not at all read like a boring scholarly regurgitation of facts. GREAT EASY READ.
